A New Honey Harvesting Innovation Worth Watching

When our friend Andy Knight (Magnolia Bee and Supply) shared this product with us, we thought many of our readers would enjoy learning about this new approach to honey harvesting. We haven't yet had the opportunity to test the HiveKeepers Micro Honey Harvester ourselves, so this isn't a product endorsement. The Micro Honey Harvester by HiveKeepers

For many beekeepers, harvesting honey is one of the most rewarding parts of the season—but it can also be one of the most time-consuming. According to HiveKeepers, the Micro Honey Harvester was designed to simplify that process by allowing honey to be extracted directly from specially designed HiveKeepers frames and reusable cassettes.

About the size of a small coffee maker, the portable unit is designed to reduce many of the traditional harvesting steps, including uncapping, using a large extractor, filtering, and lengthy cleanup.

Why It's Generating Interest

According to HiveKeepers, the system offers several potential benefits:

• Fast harvesting – Individual cassettes can be harvested in about 20 seconds, with a frame taking approximately 5–10 minutes.

• Cleaner process – The closed system is designed to produce honey without the filtering or straining typically associated with traditional extraction.

• Minimal equipment – No large extractor or dedicated honey room is required.

How the System Works

1. Install HiveKeepers frames in a standard Langstroth hive.

2. Bees fill the removable food-safe cassettes with honey.

3. Remove a capped cassette when it's ready.

4. Insert the cassette into the Micro Honey Harvester.

5. Honey is extracted in about 20 seconds.

6. Return the cassette to the hive, where the bees can begin refilling it.
